Mexican companies are participating in construction of 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums in Qatar. There is a a possibility of Qatar investment within Mexico in Acapulco and the project of Mayan train.
In an interview with the newspaper Heraldo de Mexico, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Kuwari said that by hosting the 2022 World Cup, Qatar is demonstrating the ability to combine modernity with tradition.
He explained his country's interest in building hotels in Acapulco, Guerrero and investing in the Mayan train. He also announced the expansion of Qatar Airways and the possibility of commercial flights between Qatar and Mexico
[About the state of Guerrero, it's a very nice place, but we have to look at security conditions," he said.
The ambassador, who visited the newspaper, commented that he visited few places in Mexico; he had already visited Chiapas. Xcaret, Cancun (in the state of Quintana Roo); Acapulco and Puebla, and expressed his for Mexican cuisine
¨The infrastructure for the World Cup stadiums will be ready by next year ," he said, adding that "Mexican companies (one of which is Dunn Light Arquitectura) are working on stadium constructions.¨
He said that among the attractions and heritage of the World Cup 2022 is that some stadiums will be removable . After the world cup 2022, the seats of some stadiums will be donated to developing countries.
Contrary to what has been said, alcohol will be sold in stadiums, but in specific and authorized places.
The country is preparing to receive a large number of fans from Mexico and the world. With regard to the costs of attending the 2022 World Cup, the ambassador explained that there is a lot of diversity in the choices: "There are five-star hotels, but there are also accommodation suitable for all possibilities" the same is true for food.
"There will be Arab tents equipped for accommodation, the temperature will be perfect during the World cup 2022. " he said
Moving between stadium will be attractive with the new metro system "without driver" which the first phase of it will be ready this year.
Bilateral relations with Mexico
With regard to Qatar's relationship with Latin America, he said that his country has interest in establishing good relations with Latin America
¨With Mexico, we have won contracts to explore fuel in the Gulf of Mexico and there is also a great interest in agriculture, sports and tourism," he said.
He added that his country is very interested in trade with Mexico, by offering the same quality products that are exported to the United States.
He also talked about Al-Jazeera
Al Jazeera's freedom of expression in the region has angered some of the neighboring countries that do not want to talk about what is happening in the region and therefore they wanted to close AL Jazeera.
Referring to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, he said that the intensive coverage given by Al-Jazeera to this case has angered some of the Arabic countries. He added, but "The case had not yet been closed."
The ambassador explained that "migration is not a problem for the state of Qatar, but it helps in the labour force especially in the construction of the stadiums of the 2022 World Cup.¨
