Qatar's Embassy in Mexico Holds Meeting on Qatar's Efforts in Support of Education in Countries Suffering from Wars, Poverty

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in United Mexican States organized a meeting to highlight the Qatari efforts in supporting education in countries suffering from wars and poverty.

The meeting was attended by the political advisor to the President of the Qatar-Mexican Friendship Group Eng Diego Cruz Dominguez, representing HE President of the Group Sergio Perez, and HE Disaster Response Advisor for the United Nations Office Juan Pablo O'Farrill Duque a s well as a number of senior officials and community figures in Mexico.

In a speech during the meeting, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Mexico Mohammed bin Jassim Al Kuwari said that the event is primarily to support the Qatari initiative and the United Nations resolution that designated September 9 as the International Day to Protect Education from Attack.

His Excellency affirmed that any kind of attacks against education leads to much psychological and physical damage that leaves a profound impact on the lives and future of children. Since its establishment in 1995, the Qatar Foundation has been and continues to be one of the most important sponsors of education in Qatar and around the world. Thanks to its effort, more than ten million children receive their basic education in the poorest and most insecure countries around the world, His Excellency added.

The meeting, organized by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Mexico, comes within the framework of the first International Day to Protect Education from Attack and in support of the tireless efforts of the Qatar Foundation and Education Above All Foundation, which resulted in the issuance of the United Nations resolution establishing September 9 as an International Day to Protect Education from Attack.
