The Qatari embassy opened its doors in 2014.  The bilateral relationship between the two countries has been strengthened with the official visit of His Highness Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to Mexico in 2015, within the framework of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Mexico. Among the main topics of this visit, were the promotion of trade, investment relations, cooperation in strategic sectors such as energy and oil, education, cultural exchange, tourism , and others. The visit of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to Mexico, was the first visit of a Qatari emir to Mexico, since the formalization of bilateral diplomatic relations, on June 30, 1975.
