The World Cup in Qatar will be the best in history

In light of the various accusations of corruption against Qatar the hosting of the 2022 World Cup, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Mexico, Mohammed Al-Kuwari, said that these accusations are due to the fact that there are some other member countries of FIFA that do not agree that an Arab country is hosting the World Cup and are jealous of the opportunity given to Qatar to organize sucha an important event around the world.

Despite the controversy which recently led to investigating the former European Union president Michel Platini in June, the ambassador said that Qatar's 2022 World Cup would be the best in history and even said that the eight stadiums of the World Cup 2022, which will be held for the first time in November and December 2022, will be ready two years before the World Cup, in 2020.

He added that Qatar has an experience in organizing sporting events, both nationally and internationally. This year, Qatar will host one of the world's major tournaments - The World Athletics Championships in September and the FIFA club World Cup in December.

The ambassador also said that  on the agenda of the Qatar Olympic Committee, each year there are about 33 sporting events locally and internationally. In 2018, the Cycling World Cup was held in the country, and in 2017 the World Swimming Championship, each year we have a competition of this kind, and in this year, we will have other important events (World Athletics Championships and Club World Cup). So, Qatar is known for organizing various international events.

On the other hand, he pointed out that there is great enthusiasm among Qataris that the 2022 World Cup is in Qatar.

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Mexico confirmed that all the 2022 World Cup stadiums will be ready two years before this event.

He said the government plans to further promote the World Cup and football specifically, through several programs to support sports and youth, through high-level academies, in order to get the best players in the sport and several other sports.

In terms of infrastructure, he said that two of the 8 stadiums were completely done: Khalifa International Stadium, which was reopened in 2017 and with a capacity for 68 thousand spectators; Al Wakra Stadium, which opened in May, in the final of the Emir´s Cup of 2019, with a capacity for 40,000 people.

He explained that the remaining six stadiums will be handed over in 2020 by the Organizing Committee, and will include the most important technological innovations in the use of air conditioning, and  in the stadiums, including Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, that can be completely dismantled. Among the other stadiums built there are: Al-Bayt, Al-Thumama, Al-Rayyan, Education City and Lusail.

He pointed out that in order to be the most successful World Cup, Qatar is working not only in stadium´s  construction, but also on improving and expanding the country's infrastructure.

He explained that in the process of redesigning the big infrastructure, there will be a metro network, which he said it will be the fastest in the world, without a driver and can transport fans to each stadium of the World Cup. The metro, which will open in 2020 has the latest technology and latest trains, will include three lines, red, green and gold, and will include 37 stations

The diplomat also said that the Qatar 2022 World Cup is a very big project for the country, as more hotels are being built and even new cities, such as Lusail, where Lusail Stadium will be built.

He mentioned that among the accommodation options would be "Arab tents", and the fans would be able to experience the "traditional Arab tents.
